Commercial part of nutmeg tree is its seed of its fruit which is seen as yoked in a shell covered by an aril, a thin leathery type tissue called mace. When the fruits get matured it splits off, which tends to fall down or it is plucked from tree. After removing the outer part of fruit, mace is detached and nutmeg with shell is  dried in sun till the seed rattle in the shell. Then the seed is taken out of the shell by breaking it. This seed grinded to make nutmeg powder
